Salmon Lake State Park

Salmon Lake is a peaceful lake linked to the Clearwater River and sits between the Mission and Swan Mountain Ranges. Salmon Lake State Park offers a multitude of water recreational activities. 

If you are looking for some decent fishing Salmon Lake and Clearwater River offer up rainbow, cutthroat, brown, brook and bull trout, largemouth bass, white mountain whitefish, kokanee salmon, yellow perch and northern pike. Prefer staying on land? There are several pull-offs to watch water recreationist canoe, water-ski, and fish. There are great opportunities for birding both in and outside of the state park.

Camping and a variety of water sports are popular activities in this woodland setting of western larch, ponderosa pine, and Douglas-fir.

Ranger programs are offered weekends and weekdays from June through early August in the park's amphitheater.

This park is situated on 42 acres of land at 3,917 feet in elevation.

Salmon Lake State Park has 20 campsites.

Driving Directions to Key Access Points

From Seeley Lake , MT 10 min (7.9 mi):

Head south on MT-83 S toward Cedar Ln 7.9 mi

From Missoula, MT 46 min (45 mi):

Take Grand Ave and N 2nd St W to Old U.S. 93 E/N Orange St 51 s (0.2 mi) and Take MT-200 E to MT-83 N 45 min (44.9 mi)
