Summit Nature Center at Whitefish Mountain Resort

The Summit Nature Center sits atop Big Mountain at the Summit House. Hike the Danny On Trail, a distance of 4 miles, or take a high-speed gondola ride to the top.

Managed by the US Forest Service, the Nature Center features interactive, hands-on exhibits about the region's flora, fauna, geology, fire ecology and history. Kids enjoy identifying the original owners of animal skins. The summit of Big Mountain offers fabulous views of the Flathead Valley and peaks in Glacier National Park.
