The Whitefish Bike Retreat and Whitefish Lodging is a trailside lodging and camping facility that is located in Northwestern Montana just 8 miles west of the town of Whitefish. It encompasses 19 acres of wilderness adjacent to the Whitefish Trail network nestled in the Beaver Lake area and offer unique and affordable lodging options for cyclists and adventurers. The owner is experienced with all aspects of endurance cycling, long distance hiking and paddling, mountaineering and knows how to cater to the needs of people who venture into the wild to play. The Whitefish Bike Retreat and Whitefish lodging is not just a place to stay, it is a place to experience!

The facility offers different forms of lodging and camping to suit the needs of all our guests, immediate access to the Whitefish Trail and is located near local cross-country and downhill biking trails that are minutes away and offer a variety of riding adventures. Additionally, The Great Divide Route, The Northern Tier Route, and the Great Parks Route and countless more riding trails are located throughout Northwestern Montana and provide miles of open gravel and paved roads to tour at your leisure. You can begin and end your journey here or stop by for a nights rest along your way.

This is a year-round destination for adventurers. Their vision is to build a place where cyclists or adventurers can come together enjoy one another, learn from one another, and help one another. No worries if you don't want to ride just come and enjoy the area, the activities and trails that Northwestern Montana has to offer as a hiker, camper, skier, or runner or just paddle the many pristine lakes close by. Glacier National Park and Whitefish Mountain Resort are close and offer a range of outdoor activities both in the summer and winter.

Lodging Style and Amenities

There are several types of accommodations that the Whitefish Bike Retreat offers.  Whether you are traveling with a buddy, or your family or alone, we have something for you.

Currently offered for guests:

  • camp sites 
  • main lodge with a communal kitchen, bath and laundry facility
  • common indoor and outdoor recreational area with a fire pit and gas grill for group gatherings
  • bike wash stations
  • secured indoor bike storage
  • bike workshop 

The Retreat boasts a pump track and some sweet short sections of single track that connect directly to the Whitefish Trail.  There is a dirt jumper for guests to checkout so all can experience and enjoy the pump track.

The Whitefish Bike Retreat offers local Montana Coffee Traders Coffee and a few baked goods every morning for our guests to start the day off right!

Driving Directions

Directions From Whitefish By Car:

Take Hwy 93 North toward Eureka.  At Milepost 135 (7 miles from downtown Whitefish) turn right onto Beaver Lake Road.  Continue for 1.3 miles and turn right into the Whitefish Bike Retreat.

Directions From Whitefish By Bike:

Ride from Downtown Whitefish a short distance up Hwy 93 toward Eureka.  Veer right off Hwy 93 toward the State Park just past golf course.  At stop sign, go straight toward Lion Mountain Trailhead for the Whitefish Trail.  Turn right into the Lion Mountain Trailhead Parking area.  Ride about 5.7 miles to the beginning of the "lollipop" intersection and veer left before crossing dirt road (Beaver Lake Road).  Look for the Whitefish Bike Retreat sign on the left in about 1/4 mile form "lollipop" intersection.
