Kalispell is fortunate to have attracted the baking talents of Rick and Hannah, who learned the art of artisan bread-making at Missoula’s Le Petit Outre. While their hand-shaped loaves will keep you coming back, be sure to try their seasonal treats, such as huckleberry scones or Flathead cherry crostata.
Breads include baguettes, focaccia, pain au levain, French-style sourdough, and (my favorite) organic multi-grain, all baked in a hearth oven with fresh yeast and without preservatives.
Espresso, spritzers and ready-made sandwiches also are available.
Look for the red Schwinn cruiser out front with the sandwich board that features the special bread and pastry of the day.
