Elk River

This river is amazing with it’s tall canyon walls, it’s breathtaking waterfalls and the wildlife it attracts. The Elk river runs through Fernie, BC where it is a swift moving float. Once you pass Elko past the Elk River Dam station, the river turns into a class 5 creek that has been run by a small hand full of kayakers each summer. The class 5 section turns into a class 4 creek just after ‘Leap of Faith’ falls. You can put in above or below these spectacular 40 ft. falls and carry on with more amazing and challenging whitewater. Finally after the class 4 section the river runs out into a class 3-4 meandering river where raft trips usually paddle. If you visit this river in the fall you will be sure to see many bright red Kokanee Salmon swimming up the river to spawn.
