This one’s on us!

In 2017, to celebrate Canada 150, Parks Canada offered free admission and welcomed over 27 million visitors to our national parks, national marine conservation areas and national historic sites. What better way to say “thank you” to our visitors than to offer a free admission day?

Admission is already free on Canada Day, but we’re adding another day for you enjoy your favourite activities without paying any admission fees.

In 2018, we will offer free admission on Historic Places Day, July 7.

Stop in and help celebrate Canada’s cultural treasures within Parks Canada. Experience horse-drawn haying. There is always something old, new and fun to discover at the Ranch!

Event Setting

The site has many historic buildings and structures, illustrating various stages of ranching development, and is rich in cultural landscape features. A visitor orientation centre and a vibrant living history program interpret a time when the West was young.

Driving Directions

Bar U Ranch National Historic Site is located approximately 95 km (59 miles) south of Calgary on Highway 22, 13 km (8 miles) south of Longview. From Calgary, go south on Highway 2, then west on Highway 540, cross over Highway 22 (also known as The Cowboy Trail) and continue going west for approximately half a kilometer.
