Not everyone has heard of this wild west sport, but based on the crowds at the Lincoln Rodeo grounds in the middle of January 2018, it's a popular and growing wintertime activity for both participants and spectators.
It's a competition among men and women on snow skis being pulled by horses and riders.
Skijoring has been around for decades, but it's been taking root in recent years, with an international governing body and at least nine sanctioned events in 2019 in the Northern Rockies alone, starting the last weekend of 2019 in Kalispell.
The Lincoln, Montana event is scheduled for January 19 - 20, 2019 at the rodeo grounds one mile west of Lincoln at corner of Montana HWY 200 and Beaver Creek Road. Races start @ noon on Saturday. The show in Lincoln is preamble to the World Invitational meet the following weekend in Whitefish, Montana.
