SwanWoods is an example of independent craftspeople making a living in a very rural location. The Swansons have been working together as craftsmen for over 35 years in the Blacfoot Valley, near Ovando, Montana. Many of the tools which they use are of their own design and making. It has been a challenging but rewarding choice of livelihood. They enjoy sharing the story of our life and craft with visitors from all over the globe. They are members of Alpine Artisans, Inc., a group of artists committed to preserving and promoting the arts in the Seeley-Swan area of western Montana since 1991. Alpine Artist activities include workshops, programs, exhibits, scholarships, meetings, and concerts which encourage the development of the arts for both AAI members and community members throughout the valleys.
