Full Description of this Recreation Trail

This moderate 2.5 mile one way hike is great for families, backpackers or the casual dayhiker. From the trailhead you'll take the trail on the north side of the road. The trail gains most of the elevation in the beginning, and offers partial shade. If you're lucky enough you could land an overnight at Wolverine Cabin, a first come first service forest service cabin. The cabin has two bunks, a wood stove and basic cooking utensils. It is near a meandering creek and just a short walk from two alpine lakes (Wolverine Lakes). Both lakes make for decent fishing, especially if you're looking for "pan sized" fish. Hikers have seen big horn sheep crossing the rocks on the back end of the northeast lake.
